This armchair has been in our family for years. Although it had been restored once before, over time it had lost its charm: the fabric had faded, the upholstery was torn, and the armrests were on the brink of falling apart.
Despite its worn condition, I decided to give it a fresh makeover.
From the start, I knew this wouldn’t be an easy project. The chair was literally crumbling as I worked on it—cracked wood, broken fasteners, and the old foam disintegrating into dust.
I fixed up the old armchair myself, transforming it into a stylish addition for our new home.
To my surprise, the armrests weren’t made of wood at all, as I had originally thought, but some kind of plastic material!
I replaced everything that was necessary to save the chair from being beyond repair. Instead of typical upholstery, I chose a strong, durable canvas—rough to the touch, but incredibly sturdy and chic.
The chair’s color transformation was unexpected, going from a vibrant orange to a calm, soothing green.
The end result was more than I had hoped for. Not only did the chair come back to life, but it gained a distinct personality.
It now fits perfectly in our one-of-a-kind house, where it serves not just as a chair but as a bold statement piece in the room.
