Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made a striking solo appearance in Geneva this week, stepping onto the Place des Nations outside the headquarters of the United Nations for an emotional public event connected to online safety and cyberbullying.
The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex attended the ceremony at the invitation of the World Health Organization and helped unveil a powerful memorial installation titled “The Lost Screen.” The project centered around children who lost their lives due to cyberbullying, online extortion and other harmful internet-related experiences.

The memorial itself created an unsettling visual impact. Fifty illuminated screens were placed throughout the installation, each displaying the image of a locked phone connected to a real child whose story became part of the project. The initiative was organized through Archewell Foundation together with The Parents’ Network, a community made up of grieving families affected by online harm.
But while the subject of the event was deeply emotional, people online also became immediately fixated on Meghan’s appearance.

The duchess arrived wearing a severe monochrome outfit entirely in black. She chose an oversized tailored pantsuit combined with a sleeveless black turtleneck layered beneath a sharply cut blazer. The styling felt intentionally restrained and serious, matching the tone of the memorial rather than aiming for glamour or royal spectacle.
She completed the look with classic black suede heels from Christian Dior and kept accessories minimal, opting for delicate gold jewelry, including a thin necklace, understated earrings, bracelets and a watch. Her hair was pulled tightly back into her signature low bun, adding to the controlled and formal appearance that many people described as one of her most severe public looks in recent years.

The images from Geneva quickly spread online, with supporters praising the dignity and seriousness of the event while others focused on how dramatically different Meghan’s energy felt compared to her recent lifestyle and entertainment appearances. Either way, the appearance made one thing clear — this was not a fashion-first royal-style outing. Meghan arrived looking like someone determined to keep every ounce of attention on the message behind the memorial.
