Turn simple ingredients into a spectacular bake: The easiest cabbage pie recipe for effortless homemade deliciousness

In case you crave something delicious but don’t want to spend HOURS making a dish, this easy recipe is just for you! šŸ‘ŒšŸ¤« All you need for this cabbage pie is a few veggies and little time to get one of the tastiest homemade dishes ever! šŸ„¬šŸ„• Even the beginners can make this without failing! šŸ’ÆšŸ‘ Be ready to take notes as I am going to share the recipe in this article! šŸ‘‡

I call this my “no-fuss” pie because there’s no waiting around for yeast dough to rise. When youā€™re short on time but still craving something homemade, this recipe is a lifesaver. Just mix, pour, and bakeā€”yet the taste is so rich, youā€™d think it took hours to make!

Perfectly Savory Cabbage Filling

If you already know your way around sautĆ©ed cabbage, hereā€™s my personal approach:

Heat some vegetable oil in a pan and sautƩ chopped onions until soft.

Add grated carrots and a small knob of butterā€”cook until everything is tender and fragrant.

Season with salt, pepper, and dried garlic, then mix in the shredded cabbage.

Let the cabbage soften to your likingā€”I find that about 15 minutes gives it the perfect texture for this pie.

Once slightly cooled, mix the cabbage with chopped boiled eggs and fresh herbs. The filling is now ready!

Quick & Fluffy Batter

For the dough, combine:

Sour cream with a spoonful of mayonnaise (optionalā€”you can stick to just sour cream)

2 eggs

A pinch of salt and sugar

A splash of vegetable oil

Next, gradually add sifted flour with baking powder, stirring until you get a smooth, pourable batterā€”it should be a bit runnier than pancake batter.

Assembling & Baking

Grease your baking pan with butter, and for extra texture, sprinkle in a bit of semolina.

Pour half the batter into the pan.

Spread the cabbage filling evenly over the top.

Cover with the remaining batter and smooth it out.

For a golden crust, brush the surface with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake at 180Ā°C (350Ā°F) for 35-40 minutes, adjusting for your oven.

A Pie Thatā€™s Always a Hit

Once out of the oven, the aroma is irresistible! Mine developed a little crack on top, but that didnā€™t affect the flavor one bit. If you want a flawless finish, just Ensure that everything is at room temperature before you begin mixing.

This pie is soft, hearty, and bursting with flavor. If you havenā€™t tried this method yetā€”nowā€™s the time!
