Jyoti Amge, 30, who holds the title of the world’s shortest woman at just 62.8 cm, recently had a remarkable encounter with 27-year-old Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman, standing at an impressive 215.16 cm. The two women met for a memorable tea party at The Savoy Hotel in London, marking their celebration as recipients of The Guinness World Records icons award. However, one unexpected detail from their meeting went viral, leaving people in awe.
Following the event, Amge, an actress, made an appearance on television, where she opened up about the challenges she faces daily. She revealed that, at times, she needs her family’s help to leave her home. Due to her small stature, she has had her living space specially designed with furnishings tailored to her size to make it easier for her to move around and access what she needs.
Her translator, Amol Pangul, shared further insight, explaining, “In everyday life, Jyoti faces difficulties completing routine tasks. At home, everything is arranged according to her height so she can reach things comfortably. But when she wants to go out, she relies on her family’s assistance. There’s always someone around to help her.”

Accompanying Amge was Rumeysa Gelgi, who was diagnosed with Weaver syndrome, a rare condition that causes rapid growth and skeletal abnormalities. Gelgi’s case was the 27th ever documented and the first in Turkey. She uses a wheelchair and can only stand for short periods with the aid of a walker, but despite her condition, Gelgi remains determined and refuses to let it limit her achievements.
The most striking moment of the encounter occurred when the two women conversed, and their voices surprised everyone. Gelgi’s voice, deep and resonant, contrasted sharply with Amge’s unexpectedly high-pitched tone. The difference in their vocal qualities left viewers intrigued.
One person commented, “Their voices are so strikingly different.” Another asked, “Are they using voice changers? 💀” A third remarked, “It’s fascinating to hear how different their voices are; I didn’t know height could affect this, but it makes sense with the vocal cords and thoracic cavity.” Others were equally captivated by the contrast, with one saying, “You can almost tell their size just by their voices. It’s so interesting.”
Amge and Gelgi were honored as Guinness World Records icons in the special 70th-anniversary edition of the book, alongside other extraordinary record holders like Diana Armstrong, known for having the longest fingernails, Sultan Kosen, the world’s tallest man, and strongman Dave Walsh, featured in the Guinness World Records 2025 edition.
