Today’s article is about James Christopher Harrison, an 87-year-old Australian man, who is widely associated with a hero due to his acts. His incredible journey began at the age of 18 when he started donating blood as it contained a unique antibody.

The thing is that his plasma is rich is a powerful antibody called Anti-D which is required for creating a special treatment for Rhesus Hameolytic Disease. This leads to miscarriages and stillbirths.

Sadly enough, it caused the passing of thousands of Australian babies before the 1960s. Throughout these years the man has made 1173 donations deservedly earning the title of «The man with the golden arm». His final donation was at the age of 81 which marked the end of his incredible journey of saving lives.

His contribution has been essential as more than 17% of Australian women are at risk of HDN. He deservedly became a local hero.
