“They had a secret nickname for Meghan—behind her back.” Former team members say working with the Duchess wasn’t exactly royal 👀🎙️ Curious what they called her (and why)? It’s all in the article 👇📸
It’s recently come to light that Meghan Markle was given a hidden nickname by some of her former coworkers — and it wasn’t exactly flattering.
Back in 2022, Meghan and Prince Harry launched their podcast Archetypes as part of a deal with Spotify. But less than a year after the show began, the couple’s production company decided to cut ties with the streaming platform.
While no clear explanation was offered, both sides claimed the split was mutual in a brief public statement. Still, rumors swirled behind the scenes — especially about how Meghan worked with her team.
British commentator Neil Sean told Fox News Digital that people who were involved with the podcast quietly referred to Meghan using a code name. “Former team members told me they started calling her ‘Eva,’” he said, “as a way to discreetly alert others when she was nearby or in a difficult mood.”
The nickname wasn’t random. It was inspired by the 1955 film Queen Bee, where actress Joan Crawford plays a powerful, manipulative woman named Eva Phillips. According to Sean, staffers felt Meghan had a similar presence — charming but sharp, and not always easy to handle.
“That’s how they described the experience of working with her,” Sean added. “And apparently, she had no idea they called her that.”
He went on to say that much of what went on during the podcast’s production was never made public. According to him, those who worked closely with Meghan often found her demanding and hard to predict. They said her mood could change quickly, which made the workplace tense at times.
“She brought a very theatrical energy into the room, often without realizing it,” Sean explained.
He also claimed Meghan only wanted to deal with top-level staff and avoided direct communication with people in lower positions. When that wasn’t possible, others were supposedly reminded that she was a duchess — and part of the royal family.
“At first, her star power made an impression,” Sean said. “But that faded when people started to feel she was difficult to work with… especially considering where she started in the entertainment industry.”
