Today, Iām going to share a simple and inexpensive way to create a fragrant, powerful cleaner for your toilet. Itās budget-friendly, easy to make, and quite effective!
What you’ll need:
Half a bar of soap or leftover soap scraps
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 tablespoon of coarse salt
Essential oil (optional)
A bit of water
Instructions:
Begin by grating the soap using a coarse grater. If you have small soap remnants lying around, this is a perfect way to put them to use.
Mix in the baking soda and coarse salt. These ingredients help fight grime and bacteria while also preventing the buildup of stains.
For a pleasant fragrance, opt for a scented soap, or add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oilālemon, lavender, or eucalyptus work wonderfully.
Slowly incorporate water, stirring after each addition until you reach a moldable consistency. If the mixture becomes too runny, simply add more baking soda.
Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a walnut.
Lay the balls out on parchment paper and allow them to dry for 24-48 hours. Once dried, they should be firm.
How to use them:
Standard method: Drop one of the balls into the toilet bowl overnight. In the morning, flush, and youāll find your toilet sparkling clean and smelling fresh.
Continuous cleaning: Cut one side off a medical mask to create a small pocket, then place 2-3 balls inside. Tie the mask with a rubber band and hang it inside the toilet bowl. Each flush will help clean the bowl.
Enhanced effect: Place the balls in a small plastic holder and attach it under the toilet rim for an added cleaning boost.
Extra tips:
For tackling limescale, you can add citric acid to the mix. Itās excellent for breaking down mineral deposits.
If you want the balls to look more decorative, use silicone molds. This will create fun shapes that add a pleasing touch to your toilet.
Store your finished cleaning balls in an airtight container in a dry place to keep them effective for longer.
