Instead of throwing this old chair away, we saw potential and gave it a second chance!🪑⚒️ It was the best decision we have ever made! 🤩👏 As we started working we couldn’t even imagine what FANTASTIC results we will have at the end! 🔥🤭 No one believes this is the same chair after the transformation! 🧐🤯 The before-after photos went viral which I will share in this article! 👇
Instead of discarding the old chair, we decided to give it a complete makeover, and the final result was beyond what we had imagined.
When I first examined the chair, I noticed it was still in decent shape, but the upholstery was clearly worn out. It looked like the cats had left their mark over the years. Rather than just tossing it out, we saw potential and opted for a full transformation.
The first step was to take the chair apart, carefully peeling away the old fabric to use as a template for the new design.
We then removed the old foam and straps, taking detailed photos along the way to ensure we could reconstruct the chair correctly once we were done. Most of the wooden frame was sturdy, except for one leg. We reinforced it, taped it up, and let it dry for 24 hours.
While the leg was setting, we focused on the base. For maximum durability and comfort, I used 16 meters of furniture sling fabric to create strong new straps.
Next, we crafted a new seat base using foam and synthetic padding. I used the old upholstery fabric as a guide, but since we added thicker foam, I made sure to adjust the measurements slightly.
For the new fabric, my mom selected a bold geometric pattern. It was a bit tricky, especially around the armrests, but I made it work.
The wooden components also received some attention. We treated them with special wood care products and sanded them down to restore their original sheen. The final touch was a coat of walnut-colored oil and wax, which brought out the natural beauty of the beechwood.
Once the chair was fully reassembled, we double-checked that everything fit perfectly.
The outcome was truly impressive! I’m really proud of how it turned out. What do you think?
