A 14-year-old girl from Williamstown, West Virginia, spent her summer vacation revamping a 1974 Wilderness camper into what she calls a “Glamper.” This unique term fuses “camping” and “glamorous,” reflecting her vision of making outdoor adventures more enjoyable and stylish.

You won’t believe the transformation this ambitious high school student has accomplished with her newly redesigned camper.

According to her mother, Lori, she saved approximately $500 through chores, birthday gifts, and various side jobs to buy and renovate the camper.

The camper was spotted on a community bulletin board, listed for just $200.

After purchasing the camper, she used the remaining funds for paint, flooring, fabrics, and other decorative items for her glamper.

Ellie explained that the camper had seen better days, having been used for both camping and hunting, and required a lot of hard work to bring it back to life, as her mother noted.

The idea for this project originated from her older brother, Isaiah, who constructed a small cabin for himself and his friends. Ellie desired a similar space but wanted it to be “cuter” and nearer to home, as she required access to electricity and Wi-Fi.

Before diving into the makeover, she stripped the camper down and thoroughly cleaned it. Then, she painted the exterior in Valspar’s “Mystic Sea” color.

In one photo, Ellie is seen cleaning up any leftover glue from the flooring after dismantling everything.

Another image features her grandfather, Lawrence, teaching her essential carpentry skills like bracing and patching holes.

Next, Ellie selected a color palette for the interior, opting for a soft aqua blue.

She worked diligently to paint the interior, turning the dull wood into a vibrant space. As shown in the following image, the camper’s interior began to take shape.

During the final stages, Ellie laid new floor tiles while her grandmother helped sew the upholstery for the seat cushions and curtains.

Ellie mentioned that she collected various items throughout the summer to prepare for her glamper project.

One picture captures her bringing in a decorative mannequin she bought from a recently closed warehouse.

She found a great deal of inspiration on Pinterest, which was instrumental in shaping her design choices.

While putting the finishing touches on her almost-complete glamper, she incorporated special details like a vintage camera, a classic fan, and handmade napkins created by her grandmother.

When asked about her plans for the completed project, she said she might host a sleepover with friends or simply enjoy some quiet time reading and playing her ukulele.

Ellie’s perseverance has resulted in the transformation of a remarkable glamper. It’s truly remarkable for someone her age to take on such a significant project all by herself.

When questioned about her daughter’s ability to take on this challenge, Ellie’s mother said, “I have always encouraged her to pursue anything she wanted.” With that kind of support, Ellie was inspired to create something beautiful.

Ellie’s remarkable effort reminds us that hard work pays off. When we commit ourselves to a goal, anything is possible.
