Today I want to tell you about one of my friends who is a working pensioner. She lives in a small flat with her two adult children. It is difficult to live alone in such a flat, but there is a whole family here.
She is 65, her son is 35 and her daughter is 30. They are all healthy working people with average salaries. They cook for themselves separately, so they each have their own shelf in the fridge.
The son lives in the smaller room, and a friend and her daughter live in the other room. But the friend sleeps on a mattress in the kitchen. I can’t imagine how she fits in there, but it doesn’t work any other way. A few years ago, her daughter had a baby with a guest worker who sometimes comes to their house.
No one I know lives the way they do. Everyone tries to live separately from their children, for example, they exchange their flat or take out a mortgage. Because at a distance, love for relatives is much stronger, and everyone is happy.
More than once I suggested to her to divide their flat, add some money from each of them and buy a one-room flat for everyone. Everyone would have an opportunity to live in normal and comfortable conditions. But my friend complains about the lack of money. I cannot understand how they can live together on such a small living space with hatred for each other. And they have no money, because they live in an invented world.
Her son bought an expensive car on credit to make himself look cool and wealthy. But he lives together with his mother in a small flat.
And the acquaintance herself, several times a year goes on holiday to Turkey. It must be a five-star hotel and all-inclusive programme. And she holidays there for credit money, which then pays for two months. And so on and so forth. It turns out that for 20 days she lives as if in paradise, and the rest of the time she shares her small flat with her children.
It’s impossible to change her mate’s mind.
Some people buy expensive cars, things, jewellery without having anything behind their souls. They want to appear to be other people, not what they really are. My opinion, the first thing you need to provide yourself with is a good home. You need to live in the real world, not in an imaginary one.
