When my husband brought home an old buffet, I wasn’t convinced. To me, it looked like just another bulky relic. But he had a clear plan to revamp it for our summer house — and our son happily joined in on the project.
First, they carefully disassembled the unit, repairing dents and scratches with putty. The old glass panels were cleaned and polished using a special spray, restoring their shine and elegance.
The real magic came in the painting process. Using a palette of eight colors, they turned the once-drab piece into a cheerful focal point. The back panel now features soft white and beige stripes, while the shelves were coated in crisp white to display décor or everyday essentials.
The two drawers were painted a chic gray with bold black handles, and the cabinet door became a canvas for geometric art in black, yellow, gray, and blue.
Inside? A bold surprise — deep purple walls and vivid blue shelves offer contrast and personality. Although the glass wasn’t reinstalled, my husband saved it for future projects.
The final look? A sleek, modern take on a classic piece — full of charm, character, and love. It’s now a proud centerpiece of our home, admired by everyone who visits.
