Caspar Schols from Eindhoven was not a professional architect or experienced builder. But when his mother said she dreamed of having a small peaceful home surrounded by nature, he decided to create something truly unforgettable for her himself.
She wanted a cozy house that blended naturally into the landscape, but every standard design she found either looked boring or cost far too much. So Caspar came up with an idea that was simple on the outside — but completely unexpected once you saw what it could actually do.

From a distance, the little wooden house looks fairly ordinary. Built from larch wood beside a quiet pond, it resembles a small cabin or even a garden shed with large windows. Caspar spent around six months carefully building it, piece by piece.
But the real magic is hidden inside the design.

The tiny house was specially created to adapt to changing weather conditions. When the weather is sunny and warm, Caspar’s mother can pull a simple mechanism and suddenly the house transforms completely.
Instead of one house, she effectively gets two.

The outer wooden walls slide open, revealing a bright glass-covered living space in the middle that works almost like a natural indoor garden or sunroom. Even during winter, the space remains warm thanks to a wood-burning stove, while the transparent inner walls continue allowing sunlight to pour inside.
The flexible design means the house can constantly change depending on mood, weather, or occasion.

On warm days, the structure opens directly onto the surrounding lawn, creating an outdoor living area perfect for tea, reading, or spending time with family. At night, the movable roof allows her to sit inside and watch the stars while remaining warm and comfortable.
Caspar also made sure every mechanism was lightweight and easy enough for his elderly mother to operate without difficulty.
According to reports, she was completely amazed when she first saw what her son had created for her. The unusual house quickly became more than just a place to live — it turned into a peaceful retreat filled with possibilities.

Her grandchildren reportedly love using the sliding structure as a giant play area and stage for games, while she enjoys quiet mornings reading in the sunlight or relaxing beside the fire during colder days.
What makes the project so special is not only the clever architecture, but the fact that it was created entirely out of love.
