A Message from her:
Hello to all the talented craftsmen, DIY enthusiasts, and creators out there! Today, I’m excited to share with you my very first “white” project. Well, to be honest, this is a team effort between my husband and me—although he wasn’t exactly thrilled about the idea at first! As often happens, we had just bought our flat, and let’s just say… the budget wasn’t exactly flexible. But that didn’t stop me from getting creative with this old wardrobe!

I couldn’t shake the urge to do something exciting with it, so I had a vision in my mind—a vibrant, artistic piece that would stand out against the neutral tones of the rest of the room’s decor. The wardrobe would be my canvas. But then, there was one problem—I can’t draw! So, I hit a bit of a creative block…

But things started falling into place when I noticed the traces of staples left on the doors—mirrors had been attached before and left ugly marks behind. Ugh… puttying and sanding were a nightmare for me! My inner perfectionist struggled with the idea of smoothing everything out to perfection. So, I decided to throw perfection to the wind and embrace a more rustic, relaxed style. I covered the imperfections with wooden slats, and that’s how the wardrobe took on a charming ‘Provencal’ look.

The work itself was pretty straightforward:
Partially disassemble the wardrobe.
Degrease it thoroughly (I used technical acetone).
Varnish the doors—I didn’t go all out, just a simple symbolic touch.
Paint with a velour roller.
I also swapped out the handles—the cheapest ones from Leroy turned out to be the perfect fit!
Replaced the hinges and decided to make a single drawer instead of two.
For the interior, I really got creative. I wanted a storage box for laundry, but couldn’t find the right one, so I made do with some leftover wooden scraps I had lying around. It’s not perfect, but it works! And the end result is a lovely wardrobe that’s now both functional and a decorative statement piece for storing clothes and toys.

As a side note, there were originally two doors, and the second one had a mirror as well. I took the photo after I removed the second door, but you can imagine how great it looked!
I’m thrilled with how this turned out and I hope it inspires others to see the potential in their old furniture before deciding to get rid of it. It just goes to show—everything can have a second life with a little creativity and a lot of effort!

What do you think of this makeover? Would you try transforming old furniture into something new and beautiful?
