Who doesn’t dream of a home that’s both stylish and comfortable? No matter the starting point, with determination and a little creativity, any space can be transformed. This incredible kitchen renovation is a perfect example of how even the most outdated room can be given a fresh new life.
The Before: A Kitchen Stuck in the Past
The original kitchen was a relic from an old Khrushchev-era apartment, with bare walls and a complete lack of organization. Perhaps the most surprising find? A vintage coal stove—something rarely seen in modern homes!
On top of that, all the pipes were exposed, making the renovation process a bit trickier.
The Transformation Begins
With a tight budget, the homeowners decided to focus on essential upgrades. They replaced damaged floorboards while salvaging some of the existing ones. To improve warmth and comfort, insulation was added before covering the floor with plywood.
To strengthen the wall shared with the bathroom, two layers of drywall were installed, followed by a fresh coat of plaster for a smooth finish.
Next up was replacing the old, worn-out window and concealing electrical wiring under a sleek stretch ceiling.
A Fresh Look with Smart Choices
For flooring, they opted for linoleum—a practical choice that’s softer and more durable than tiles, while also being more water-resistant than laminate.
Some kitchen elements were cleverly hidden to maintain a seamless and polished look. Even with a relatively simple kitchen set, the addition of a unique backsplash gave the space a modern and stylish touch.
