Alison Hannigan may be best known for her iconic roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and American Pie, but her real-life love story has quietly become just as captivating.
The actress has been married for over two decades to fellow actor Alexis Denisof — a relationship that began where many of the best stories do: on set. The two first met while working on Buffy, but their transition from colleagues to a couple wasn’t exactly smooth.
In fact, Hannigan once admitted that she was the one who fell first — while Denisof initially hesitated. What started as uncertainty eventually turned into something lasting, and in 2003, they tied the knot. More than 20 years later, they remain one of Hollywood’s most stable and low-key couples.

Denisof built his own successful career alongside hers. While he appeared briefly in Buffy, he became widely recognized for his role as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in the spin-off Angel, where his character developed significantly over more than 100 episodes. He later reunited with Hannigan on How I Met Your Mother and also appeared in major projects within the Marvel universe.

Together, they built a family away from constant spotlight pressure. The couple shares two daughters, Satyana Marie, born in 2009, and Keeva Jane, born in 2012. Both names carry special meanings — one rooted in Sanskrit, symbolizing “truth,” and the other derived from Gaelic, associated with beauty and grace.
Hannigan has often spoken about motherhood shaping her outlook on life. She has emphasized the importance of encouraging her daughters to face challenges and not be held back by fear, even when something feels unfamiliar or difficult.

Despite her long career, she continues to evolve professionally. After her years on Buffy, she became widely loved again as Lily in How I Met Your Mother. She later explored voice acting in Disney’s Fancy Nancy and most recently appeared in the romantic comedy Solo Mio. Her upcoming project, Doddy and Cheryl Get Married, is already generating interest.

Through it all, one thing has remained constant — a relationship that started unexpectedly but grew into a lasting partnership, proving that sometimes, the most enduring stories happen off-screen.
