Kaia Gerber is opening up about a deeply personal part of her childhood — and it centers on how she learned to see the female body without shame. At 24, the model reflected on growing up as the daughter of one of the most photographed women in the world, Cindy Crawford.
From the very beginning, Kaia’s home environment was far from typical. As the child of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, she was surrounded by iconic imagery — including artistic nude photographs of her mother displayed openly in their house. Instead of discomfort, Kaia says those images shaped her understanding of beauty and self-respect.
According to her, the photos were never presented as something provocative or embarrassing. They felt intentional, expressive, and rooted in artistry. She explained that she never perceived them as vulgar or objectifying, but rather as a celebration of form and confidence.
Kaia emphasized that growing up in a space where the female body wasn’t treated as something to hide was a gift. There was no sense of shame attached to nudity, and that freedom played a major role in how she developed her own relationship with her body and identity.
Interestingly, Kaia noted that her experience wasn’t universal — even within her own family. Her older brother, Presley Gerber, who is two years her senior, remembers their childhood very differently. Those contrasting memories left a lasting impression on her.
She described their opposing perspectives as fascinating, saying they taught her an important lesson early on: that multiple realities can exist at the same time, even within the same household. It was an insight that helped shape her emotional awareness as she grew older.

The family, however, has not been untouched by darker moments. At one point, they were targeted by a stalker who made violent threats against Cindy and Kaia and attempted to approach their home. The man was eventually detained and issued a restraining order, bringing an alarming chapter to an end.
Looking back, Kaia’s story isn’t just about famous parents or iconic photographs. It’s about growing up in an environment where openness replaced shame — and how that foundation shaped the woman she is today.
