“I don’t want to leave without saying goodbye”: Meghan Markle’s father admits he dreams of seeing his daughter and grandchildren

Meghan Markle’s father, 81-year-old Thomas Markle, is recovering from a severe surgery in which he lost a limb, and has reached out to his daughter with a plea for reconciliation. The man is in intensive care in the Philippines and admitted that he dreams of seeing Meghan at least once after all these years.

They have not spoken since 2018 — that was when Meghan abruptly distanced herself from her father after his press interviews and the publication of private photos. Now Thomas hopes that his daughter might forgive him. “Look at me before I die. I don’t want to leave this world as a stranger to you,” Markle said.

He also expressed a desire to meet his grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet, whom he has never held in his arms — as well as his son-in-law Prince Harry. According to Thomas, he still holds deep family feelings and has not lost hope for reconciliation.

His attending physician stated that the surgery was vital: doctors fought a serious infection that could have led to cardiac arrest. Thomas is now stable, but full recovery will take time.

A representative for Meghan claimed that the Duchess had tried to reach out to her father, but clinic staff insist otherwise. “We didn’t see or hear anything like that. Thomas has the same phone — calling him isn’t difficult,” hospital workers said.
