John Goodman, now 71, has undergone an astonishing transformation, shedding 200 pounds over the last decade and a half. Known for his roles since the 1980s, the actor’s latest appearance at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco has amazed fans at his new look.

Goodman started his path to weight loss in 2007 at 400 pounds. Instead of choosing a shortcut or quick-fix approach, he chose a slow and sustainable approach, dedicating 16 years to achieving a healthier lifestyle. In a 2017 interview with ABC, Goodman explained his changed perspective: “In the past, I’d lose a chunk of weight in a few months, then reward myself with indulgences, only to fall back into old patterns. This time, my goal was to go slow, to stay active and keep moving.”

John’s approach included giving up alcohol, enlisting the help of a personal trainer, and following a Mediterranean-inspired diet. This diet focused on nutritious foods like fish, vegetables, nuts, fruits, and olive oil, and he aimed to walk 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily. Discussing his new lifestyle on The Late Show in 2011, he acknowledged, “This is going to be a lifelong commitment.”

Fans quickly took to social media, commending John’s commitment. One wrote, “John Goodman looks amazing with the weight loss; he’s almost unrecognizable.” Another commented, “Incredible. He looks so different!”

With weight-loss medications like Ozempic gaining attention, some wondered if John had turned to it for help. The drug, which helps regulate appetite by mimicking a digestive hormone, has been a popular option for some. However, Goodman hasn’t mentioned using it, and given his slow, steady approach to wellness, it’s unlikely that it played a role in his transformation.
