My sister called me to help her financially for her kids’ school supplies. Surprisingly, this was far not the first case. My husband and I have always considered her needs above ours but the recent incident raised our eyebrows. This is what happened which made us blacklist her everywhere!
She called me at the end of August with the words that she needed some money for the school supplies for her children explaining that her budget could not allow for two schoolchildren. What is more surprising, this was far not the first case.
The amount of school purchases turned out to be not the most modest, which means that again I needed to explain to my husband that there were the extra expenses.
The whole thing is that I received higher education, while my sister didn’t. It was expensive for parents to pay for the education of two children at the same time, and by the time I received the diploma, the youngest was already happily married.
Although my sister was not passionate about studying at all, the parents did not miss the opportunity to remind me that it was me who had a chance to receive proper education and that I should always help my sister.
To look after the nephews and help financially were still common requests, but they arose very often, and I could not refuse. My husband did not like this since my nephews and my sister took a lot of time from me. I simply could not refuse directly, so she began to come up with various reasons, such as illness and refusal. I often had to lie to my husband, explaining why I still didn’t have enough until my salary.
In addition to necessary purchases, my sister did not think twice before ordering gifts, which were often very expensive. The situation continued until my pregnancy.
The future grandmother was not particularly happy about the news, she was more worried that my sister’s children were growing up, which meant that it would be difficult for me and my husband to provide for their own and pay the mortgage.
This all broke my heart and I didn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. It was my husband who took decisive measures – he blacklisted all contacts of my sister’s family and she no longer could manipulate us.
