There is probably no one who, at least, hasn’t heard of the oldest model in history. The great talent, professionalism and incredible heights of Carmen Dell’Orefice can hardly be overestimated.
She is among the most successful and best-known models the big world of fashion has ever known. The name of this legendary 91-year-old star has even appeared in the Guinness Book of Records. She still appears on the cover of magazines.
Few know that in her childhood her family was extremely poor and they even had nothing to eat. This led them to immigrate from Italy and search for food and accommodation.
At the age of 13, a completely new chapter started in her life when the wife of one affluent photographer noticed the teenager and advised her to take part in shooting. She, of course, couldn’t reject her and agreed for the sake of money.
The first photo shoot made her popular and soon many desired to work with her even when she was still a teenager. Believe it or not, she even featured the cover of Vogue magazine and enjoyed her tremendous success.
Initially, she did all this for money, but later she began to enjoy the process. Already at the age of 32 she decided to stop her drizzling modeling career, but this didn’t prevent the photographers and agencies from continuously inviting her.
Now, at the age of 91, she can still delight everyone with her timeless beauty and unique appeal.
It stands to reason that far not everyone could work as a model from the early youth to an old adulthood.
