Julia Roberts, 57, recently revealed that she felt uneasy about meeting her co-star Chloe Sevigny while working together on Luca Guadagnino’s new thriller After the Hunt. The Hollywood icon plays a college professor who becomes entangled in a scandal when a student accuses a colleague of misconduct, only for her own buried secrets to surface. The cast also includes Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloe Sevigny — the actress Roberts confessed she was most nervous about meeting.

Before filming began, Roberts hosted her castmates at her beach house for a friendly dinner and early rehearsal. Her 20-year-old daughter Hazel helped prepare the meal, while the actors read through material at the kitchen table. Roberts admitted she felt anxious when she learned Sevigny was about to arrive. “I was so nervous,” Julia recalled. “Our producer said, ‘Chloe will be here in a couple of minutes,’ and I turned to the others and said, ‘I’m scared.’ Ayo looked at me and said, ‘Me too.’ A few minutes later the doorbell rang, and Hazel whispered, ‘I’m leaving through the garage.’ That’s how worked up we all were.”

During a joint interview later, Sevigny brought Roberts to tears when she admitted how deeply she admired her. “When I was flying home, I watched three of your movies — Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and another one I can’t even remember. I just wanted more Julia! I wasn’t ready to say goodbye,” Chloe said, leaving Roberts visibly touched.

Known for her work in independent cinema, Sevigny also praised Roberts for her warmth and hospitality. “I felt a closeness to her right away. She was generous and open, inviting us into her home to rehearse. She created such a welcoming atmosphere,” she said.

Director Luca Guadagnino echoed the sentiment, praising Roberts both as a professional and as a person. “Julia is an incredible cook — her salmon and banana bread are extraordinary. She’s a wonderful friend, mother, and colleague. On set, she learns everyone’s name by the second day, and it’s completely genuine. She really cares about people.”

Roberts jokingly added that she also makes a mean French toast, laughing at the compliment. For Guadagnino, her generosity and professionalism set the tone for the entire production, making After the Hunt a memorable project both on and off the screen.
