Ali’s creative aspirations led her to Wellesley College and later to New York, where she began her career as a stylist at Harper’s Bazaar. Photographer Melvin Sokolsky soon noticed her beauty, and she transitioned to modeling, gracing magazine covers worldwide. Eventually, acting came calling, and her career soared with Goodbye, Columbus (1969) and Love Story (1970), earning her global acclaim and multiple awards.

Behind the scenes, Ali’s personal life was just as dramatic. Married to producer Robert Evans, she left him after falling for actor Steve McQueen during the filming of The Getaway (1972). Their volatile relationship led Ali to sacrifice her career to meet McQueen’s demands, which included abandoning her professional ambitions.

Their marriage ended in 1978, leaving Ali at a crossroads. She battled substance abuse and faced setbacks in her career before checking into rehab and turning her life around. She eventually settled in Tesuque, New Mexico, dedicating her time to community work, animal rights advocacy, and yoga.

Ali’s son, Josh Evans, followed in his parents’ footsteps, building a career as an actor and director. Despite the pressures of being Hollywood royalty, Josh has carved out his own path, directing films and starring in notable projects like Born on the Fourth of July (1989).

Today, Ali remains an icon of resilience and reinvention, living a fulfilling life far from the chaos of Hollywood. She cherishes her role as a grandmother and continues to explore creative passions, proving that there’s always room for new adventures, no matter your age.
