People always wonder why this happens and here is the answer! 🤔🧐In this article you can find the reason why the Swiss people build multi-meter walls around their houses! 👇👇👇
“Quiet Perspectives” is a photographic project by G. Collavini, in which the photographer tried to film Switzerland, ordinary residents.
As the most characteristic urban detail, he chose soundproofing walls, which are widespread.
This is an unusual for other countries, but here, it is the norm. Moreover, these are actually walls, which are often as high as a three-story house.

Collavini took his first photograph near the city of Fribourg. There, along the highway, a nine-meter wall with a door was standing through which passers-by could cross the road.

People shared their impressions and they have mixed opinions: for some, the walls are already a part of the familiar landscape, while others still can’t accept that.
Some residents themselves complain that these structures often cause more discomfort than benefit. In summer, the walls contribute to an increase in temperature from the inside of the fence.

This project helped the photographer convey the atmosphere of Switzerland.
Thus, the Swiss walls reflect some of the pedantry and perfectionism of the Swiss, the desire for clear order in everything and respect for borders.

This also serves as some kind of protection.
