A small life was rescued with the help of an eight-year-old girl.
When I sent my daughter to school, I looked at the second graders joined around the balcony and thought:
“How small they all are, laughing, pranking on each other, repeating school rules and poems. And no one knows what each of them is truly capable of.
Now, is the time to recall how Sasha, an eight-year-old girl, stood for an hour and a half in frosty water under concrete slabs, bearing someone else’s child who is 3 in her arms.
This is just an amazing little girl. Pushing the snow between the broken slabs, the mother searched for her, and when she found her, she wanted to assist.
But Sasha rejected.
– No, mom, I can’t, I’m holding the girl, in case I let her go, she’ll drown.
– Sasha, put the girl down and dive under the stove, now they will come for her, – Lyuba pleaded.
Sasha disagreed.
She also responded to the words of the saviors, who put her under the stove and got out. Only after the saviors pulled the girl out of her hair did Sasha rescue herself.
The girl named her savior “Aunt Sasha.”
Later it turned out that Sasha herself had a concussion as well as a broken arm. She held the girl for an hour and a half with a broken arm. With a broken arm, she swam under the flagstones in the dark in order to save herself.
It helped that Sasha had been swimming since childhood and felt confident in the water.
Sasha was granted the medal “For Rescuing the Missing”. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations gave her a computer, and the governor gave her a bicycle as well as a journey to a resort on the Black Sea.
On that day, 28 people passed away in the water park, involving 8 kids, and 193 people were damaged of varying seriousness (which includes 51 kids).
But a small life was rescued with the help of an eight-year-old girl.
Every year I think about this little girl and ask myself, “Am I able to do this?”
“Mom,” Sasha asked, “can I tell my kids about this when I grow up?”
Currently, Sasha is 26.
