“The definition of femininity and elegance”: This is how Vogue model Dell’Orefice looked in youth

The way 91-year-old model Dell’Orefice looked in youth will leave you speechless

91-year-old model C. Dell’Orefice still remains the same desirable, successful and overall-recognized model who started her drizzling career as a model since the age of 14. It should be noted that Carmen participated in a photo shoot for Vogue attracting millions and drawing the attention of a number of modeling agencies as well as photographers.

The iconic model was born to a family of a ballerina and a violinist. Unfortunately, her parents divorced and she had to stay with her mother who encouraged her to become a ballerina and dedicate her life to the ballet.

Her parents often criticized her for her “imperfections” considering her rude, unattractive and ugly. The girl had insecurities about her appearance since she was the thinnest and tallest among all her contemporaries. Boys took no interest in her and Carmen was constantly mocked and laughed at.

Since the family lived in extreme poverty, the girl stayed in a boarding school for a relatively long time. Though her cherished dream was to become a ballerina, Carmen couldn’t manage to realize it because of the rheumatism.

At the age of 14, the charming girl started her modeling career appearing on the cover of Vogue in 1947.

However surprising it may seem, the model strongly disliked this photo and considered she looked like a boy with such a hairstyle.

In her family, there was always a lack of money. In order to pay the rent, the family pawned their sewing machine and in order to pay for the electricity, they were collecting funds the whole month. It is due to her life experience that the girl now truly knows the value of money.

In the year 1963, Carmen had an intention to finally end her career in modeling, whereas her agent hardly believed in it.

The iconic model was lucky enough to meet Norman Parkinson in 1978 who encouraged her to return to the world of modeling and Carmen agreed.

Unlike the majority of women who are afraid of showing their greyed hair and age-related changed, the legendary model completely accepted herself and refused to dye her hair. She, instead, highlighted the silver grey shade of her hair.

It is worth mentioning that the popular model wrote a book called “Being Beautiful”: Secrets and Techniques I’ve Learned in 40 Years of Modeling”, where she shared her life experience.

Currently, despite her age, Carmen looks literally fantastic and much better than many young models. It is relevant to mention that time had no effect on her charm who still continues winning hearts.
