Amber Heard has given followers an unusual glimpse into her life in Europe, sharing new photographs that reveal how much has changed since she stepped away from Hollywood following her controversial divorce from Johnny Depp.
The actress recently celebrated a personal milestone after completing her first half-marathon in Donostia, Spain. In the pictures, Heard posed in a sports top and cycling shorts, raising her arms triumphantly after finishing the race. “Thank you for my first half-marathon,” she wrote, partly in the Basque language.
Heard now lives in Madrid, where she has reportedly embraced a much quieter lifestyle. She has learned Spanish, takes her eldest daughter to school herself and can walk around the city without constantly being recognized by strangers.
Most of her attention is devoted to raising her three children as a single mother. Her eldest daughter, Oonagh Paige, was born through surrogacy in April 2021. In May 2025, the actress welcomed twins, daughter Agnes and son Ocean.
Her professional priorities have also changed. Rather than pursuing major Hollywood productions, Heard has expressed interest in occasional independent European films and theater projects. In the documentary Silenced, she explained that she no longer wants to participate in public controversies and prefers a peaceful life away from media attention.
Her decision to leave Hollywood followed years of legal disputes with Johnny Depp. Their separation began in 2016, and their highly publicized defamation trial concluded in 2022. A jury found Heard liable for defamation and awarded Depp $10.35 million, while also ruling in Heard’s favor on one of her counterclaims.
After appeals, the former spouses reached a settlement in December 2022. Heard agreed to pay Depp $1 million, which he directed to charity, and the agreement did not require her to admit wrongdoing. Both actors had faced intense criticism throughout the controversy.
Following the legal battle, Heard initially moved to Mallorca, where she reportedly lived under an assumed name to protect her privacy. She later settled in Madrid, purchasing a property in the Chamartín neighborhood reportedly.
Meanwhile, 63-year-old Depp has gradually resumed his Hollywood career after a period of professional uncertainty. Heard, however, appears content with a different direction, focusing on motherhood, personal interests and a more private existence in Spain.
