Nicole Kidman is embracing a noticeably more relaxed side of life. The 59-year-old actress has been enjoying a European escape following her divorce, spending time in Italy with her younger sister, Antonia Kidman.
The sisters headed to the picturesque resort town of Portofino, where Nicole appeared carefree as they enjoyed their time together. Away from movie sets and red carpets, the Hollywood star also showed off her natural hair, a look audiences rarely get to see.
In one of the vacation photos, Kidman posed at an upscale seaside restaurant wearing a fitted white dress. Mirrored sunglasses covered her eyes, while her naturally textured hair, with its recognizable reddish tones, fell around her face in loose waves.
Another warm moment showed Nicole and 56-year-old Antonia embracing on the waterfront, with the sea and mountains creating a dramatic backdrop behind them. Nicole wore a white satin dress decorated with embroidery and finished with short ruffled sleeves. Her sister, an Australian television presenter, opted for an elegant burgundy dress covered in a white floral pattern.
Their Italian getaway also included quieter moments away from the glamorous restaurants and waterfront views. Nicole photographed Antonia during a visit to a local church, capturing another memory from their sisterly trip.
Kidman later appeared in a lush garden surrounded by greenery and blooming hydrangeas. Sitting on a woven sofa, she wore a lightweight lingerie-inspired sundress in a rich copper shade. White openwork detailing decorated the bodice and waist, while her natural strands fell freely over her shoulders.
The trip to the Italian Riviera was Nicole’s gift to Antonia, who celebrated her birthday in July. The sisters have long shared an especially close relationship, with Antonia described as Nicole’s best friend. Their bond became even stronger following the deaths of their parents.
Nicole made sure their family vacation came with plenty of luxury as well, renting an enormous yacht for their time away together.
Her decision to show her natural hair is particularly notable after the attention surrounding her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival last year. At the event, a wig had been attached carelessly enough for some of Kidman’s own hair to become visible underneath, sparking widespread discussion about her beauty routine.
The Babygirl actress later explained that wigs have been part of her professional life for years. She uses them both during film productions and for red-carpet appearances, allowing her to avoid repeatedly exposing her own hair to demanding styling.
For Kidman, hairpieces also offer another practical advantage: they allow her to dramatically change her appearance for different roles and events without having to make permanent changes to her natural hair.
Now, during a peaceful Italian break with one of the people closest to her, the actress appeared comfortable leaving that familiar red-carpet accessory behind and letting her natural waves take center stage.
