Céline Dion gave waiting fans an emotional surprise in Paris when she stepped out of her car to greet them personally. But while the 58-year-old singer smiled for the crowd, a detail largely hidden from view showed that she still needed some physical support.
Standing discreetly behind Dion was one of her bodyguards. As she remained on her feet to acknowledge the people gathered around her, he kept a hand firmly against her back, apparently helping her maintain her balance without drawing attention away from the singer.
Dion looked elegant for the outing in a charcoal-gray wool midi dress by Bottega Veneta. Dramatic draping gathered around her waist beneath a brown leather belt, creating a structured silhouette.
She finished the sophisticated look with oversized sunglasses, long leather gloves, heeled knee-high boots and a black handbag.
Her appearance in the French capital comes shortly before an especially important professional milestone. Dion is preparing for five weeks of performances, marking her first extended run of concerts since she was forced to cancel the remaining dates of her “Courage” world tour in 2023.
In December 2022, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare condition that causes muscle rigidity and painful spasms. At its most severe, the disorder left her struggling to walk normally and prevented her from singing the way she once could.
Four years after revealing the diagnosis, Dion is determined to return to performing. Her Paris residency at Paris La Défense Arena was originally scheduled for ten concerts, but overwhelming demand led to six additional dates. The 16 shows will take place across September and October.
Preparing for such an ambitious comeback has required intense work. Dion has been following a disciplined program that includes Pilates, dance sessions, physical rehabilitation and vocal therapy.
The singer recently said that she is feeling better, although she continues to monitor her health carefully and remains realistic about the challenges ahead.
“It’s a progressive condition. I don’t like to say ‘disease.’ That word makes you weaker,” Dion explained.
Her latest Paris appearance showed both sides of that journey: the glamorous performer who still wanted to step outside and acknowledge her fans, and the careful support happening quietly behind her as she prepares to return to the stage.
