Irina Shayk attracted plenty of attention with a provocative appearance at the Venice Film Festival. The 40-year-old supermodel stepped onto the red carpet in a revealing black dress that quickly became one of her most discussed looks.
For the event on Venice’s Lido, Shayk chose a black silk Dolce & Gabbana gown featuring extreme cutouts running along both sides of her body. The dramatic design exposed much of her silhouette while she confidently posed for photographers.
She accessorized the outfit with a sparkling diamond choker and a statement ring. Opaque black stockings and matching pointed stiletto pumps completed the monochrome ensemble, while her makeup featured defined black eyeliner.
Shayk appeared in high spirits throughout the photocall, smiling brightly as photographers captured her from numerous angles. Videos of her walking and posing on the red carpet soon appeared online as well.
Her appearance immediately generated contrasting reactions. Some commenters praised Shayk and compared her look with that of Cristiano Ronaldo’s wife, Georgina Rodríguez, who had also recently attended an event in Venice.
Others were far less impressed with the dress itself. While acknowledging Shayk’s beauty, several commenters argued that the design did not flatter her figure. “Irina is beautiful, but the dress is terrible,” one wrote.
Another criticized the way the gown fitted around her chest and stomach, while others compared the garment to inexpensive lingerie or questioned whether such an extreme design belonged on the red carpet. These comments reflected individual reactions to the outfit rather than objective judgments about Shayk’s body.
The Dolce & Gabbana creation also has a notable fashion history. Gisele Bündchen originally presented the same dramatically cut-out design on the runway in 2003, meaning Shayk was effectively bringing back a provocative look from more than two decades ago.
There is another connection between the two models. After Bündchen divorced American football star Tom Brady in 2022, Shayk was romantically linked to Brady. Their relationship, however, did not ultimately develop into a family.
Shayk is the mother of nine-year-old daughter Lea, whom she shares with actor Bradley Cooper. But in Venice, attention was firmly focused on fashion, as her daring archival-inspired Dolce & Gabbana look proved capable of generating both enthusiastic praise and sharp criticism.
