Blake Lively has turned 39, and Ryan Reynolds marked his wife’s birthday with something their followers do not see particularly often — a collection of personal family photographs featuring the couple and their children.
The 49-year-old actor shared the pictures on Instagram together with an affectionate birthday message. For Reynolds, August 25 apparently carries enormous importance in their household. “August 25 for this family is like the Super Bowl,” he joked.
His message quickly became more emotional. Ryan called Blake the best person he knows and praised both her courage and kindness. “You’re not just a brave and incredibly kind genius. You’re also unbelievably sweet. I know how lucky I am that you were born,” he wrote.
Reynolds finished the tribute in his typically playful style, adding: “Every time I hit my head, your life flashes before my eyes.” The accompanying photo collection was not limited to romantic pictures of the spouses — their children also appeared among the private family memories.
Blake and Ryan have been married since 2012 and are parents to four children. They have three daughters, James, Inez and Betty, as well as a son named Olin. Before his marriage to Lively, Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson.
The affectionate birthday post comes after an exceptionally turbulent period for Blake. At the end of 2024, she publicly accused her It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni of inappropriate conduct during production. Among her allegations, Lively said he had shown her photographs of his naked wife and repeatedly added intimate scenes to the script.
Baldoni denied the accusations and responded with a $400 million defamation lawsuit targeting Lively, Reynolds and The New York Times, which had covered the dispute. He also released messages involving Blake and footage from the production. The material divided public opinion, with some people interpreting the interactions as evidence that Lively had been flirting with Baldoni.

As the controversy intensified last year, Blake faced significant online backlash. Her public appearances became less frequent, and she stepped away from her career for a period while the dispute continued attracting attention.
The legal confrontation eventually moved toward a resolution. Lively and Baldoni reached a settlement in May this year, and it recently emerged that Blake is set to receive $407,000 in compensation rather than the $8 million she had sought.
