Helena Bonham Carter was spotted enjoying a relaxed walk through London with her longtime partner, art historian Rye Dag Holmboe. The 60-year-old actress and her 38-year-old boyfriend were photographed strolling through picturesque Hampstead together.
There was nothing particularly formal about the outing, but Helena’s unmistakable personal style ensured she was difficult to miss. The Harry Potter and The Crown star once again ignored conventional fashion rules and put together an eclectic combination of colors, patterns and textures.
She layered a green cardigan over a long patterned blouse in similar shades and teamed it with a red-toned floral midi skirt. Chunky sneakers added another unexpected element to the outfit.
Helena completed the look with dark sunglasses and a pink scarf tied around her hair. Her colorful ensemble stood in sharp contrast to her partner’s much more understated choice of clothing.
Rye kept things casual in a pale blue shirt, blue shorts and Birkenstock sandals. The couple appeared comfortable and unhurried as they walked together through the neighborhood.
Their 22-year age difference has attracted attention over the years, but the relationship itself has proved remarkably lasting. Helena and Rye have now been together for almost eight years.
Since 2021, they have also shared a home. One traditional relationship milestone, however, does not appear to be part of their plans: marriage.
Bonham Carter has spoken openly about why she has never felt drawn to becoming a wife. The actress does not believe partners need to promise that they will remain together forever.
“We don’t have to be together forever,” she explained in an interview last year. “I never got married precisely because I can’t honestly say those words. I think that kind of promise is unhealthy.”
For Helena, that unconventional outlook appears to fit naturally with the individuality she has displayed throughout her career — and her latest London appearance showed that she remains just as unwilling to follow anyone else’s rules when it comes to fashion.
