Madonna celebrated an important family milestone by sharing a collection of personal and throwback photos of her twin daughters, Stella and Estere. The girls have turned 14, and their 68-year-old mother marked the occasion with an emotional message on social media.
The singer described her daughters as energetic, musical and strong-minded, admitting that she could hardly believe how quickly they had grown. Madonna also reflected on the unusually close connection between the sisters, describing it as a special world that only twins can fully understand.
Her message then went back to the very beginning of their relationship. Madonna recalled feeling an immediate and powerful bond with Stella and Estere when she first met them at the Home of Hope in Malawi.
Watching the girls grow up has clearly left the pop icon proud. She praised the teenagers for becoming beautiful young women with bold personalities and joked that, just like their sisters, they have very little patience for foolish behavior.
Madonna ended her birthday tribute with an affectionate nickname that highlighted their connection to the country where they were born. Calling Stella and Estere her “Malawian queens,” she added: “Long may you reign!”
The singer is a mother of six. Along with Stella and Estere, she has 29-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon with actor Carlos Leon and 26-year-old son Rocco Ritchie from her marriage to filmmaker Guy Ritchie.
Her family also includes her adopted children David Banda and Mercy, who are both 20. Madonna has frequently included her children in personal posts, celebrations and glimpses from their family life.
The pop star has been married twice. Her four-year marriage to Sean Penn ended in divorce in 1989. She married Guy Ritchie in 2000, and the couple separated eight years later.
Since last year, Madonna has been in a relationship with Jamaican-born footballer Akeem Morris. He is 38 years younger than the 68-year-old singer.
