North West has reached another milestone at just 13 years old. The eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West has made her glossy magazine cover debut, posing for Dazed in a shoot photographed by acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Gus Van Sant.
For the editorial, North appeared with bright blue hair and wore pieces from Chopova Lowena, Reckless Scholars, Issey Miyake and other conceptual labels. Her distinctive appearance has already become part of her public identity, but North explained that her personal style comes from many different influences.
Rather than copying one particular person, the young singer says she borrows individual elements from artists she listens to and people she admires, then turns them into something that feels like her own. When asked whose wardrobe she would most like to swap with, North had a confident answer: “Honestly, I like my wardrobe the most.”
Her blue hair is only one part of that experimentation. North also spoke about her interest in makeup and piercings, explaining that these choices help her feel like herself. “Everyone is in love with boys, vaping and doing all kinds of bad things. And I just want blue hair and piercings,” she said.
Music, meanwhile, is becoming increasingly important in her life. North began taking her first steps as a performer several years ago and released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, this year. A tour had also been planned, although several shows were canceled shortly before it was due to begin.
Despite those setbacks, North made it clear that she sees music as her future. She also admitted that doing nothing for long periods simply doesn’t appeal to her. “I don’t like resting a lot. I like doing things. So maybe the perfect day is just rehearsal and then working in the studio. Or the perfect day is a big concert.”
Her musical tastes also contain a more unexpected side. Despite the edgy image and her own ambitions as an artist, North revealed that she enjoys singing Katy Perry songs during karaoke.
But perhaps the most surprising part of the interview concerned something far removed from celebrity life. Despite growing up with extraordinary opportunities, North says she wants to experience having a regular job when she is old enough.
“I still want to work besides music. Next year I want to work, for example, at Starbucks,” she explained. North believes that turning 14 could give her the opportunity to try it, adding: “I probably want to have a normal job.”
North was born in 2013 and has spent virtually her entire life surrounded by cameras. She appeared publicly with her parents from childhood, featured in the Kardashian family reality show and made her first stage appearance alongside Kanye at his Miami concert when she was 10.
She is the eldest of four children shared by 45-year-old Kim Kardashian and 49-year-old Kanye West. The former couple were together for a decade, including eight years of marriage, before divorcing in 2022. They also share three younger children.
Their lives have since moved in different directions. Kanye is now married to Bianca Censori, while Kim is currently dating Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton. North, meanwhile, appears increasingly determined to build an identity and career that belong to her rather than simply being known as the daughter of two global celebrities.
