Madonna’s Greek vacation has taken an unexpectedly spiritual turn. After traveling to the country with her family to celebrate her 68th birthday, the pop icon headed to the island of Patmos with her 26-year-old son Rocco, whom she shares with former husband Guy Ritchie.
Mother and son visited the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, turning part of their summer getaway into a deeply personal experience. They also spent time along the Aegean coast, where they enjoyed a picnic surrounded by the island’s scenery.

Madonna later shared photographs from the trip and explained why returning to Greece with Rocco carried so much meaning for her. “Prayers from Patmos!” she wrote, describing the island as magical and saying that she genuinely felt God’s presence there.
The journey also brought back memories from more than two decades ago. Madonna revealed that her first trip to Greece happened while she was seven months pregnant with Rocco. Coming back with the same son now that he is a grown man made the experience especially symbolic.

For the singer, the visit became an opportunity to reconnect with the past. She spoke about remembering that earlier period of her life and experiencing the connection again, describing the return as something that was incredibly important for her soul.
Rocco is Madonna’s biological son with British filmmaker Guy Ritchie. The former couple were married for eight years and also adopted son David Banda two years before ending their marriage in 2008.

Before Ritchie, Madonna was married to Sean Penn for four years, with their marriage ending in 1989. The singer is also mother to 29-year-old biological daughter Lourdes and three adopted daughters — 19-year-old Mercy and twins Stella and Estere.
Madonna’s romantic life has since entered another chapter. She is currently with 30-year-old Akeem Morris, and the couple became engaged last year. For the moment, however, her latest photographs put the focus firmly on family, memories and an emotional return to Greece with Rocco.
