Katie Holmes is no longer keeping her new relationship away from the cameras. The 47-year-old actress made a public appearance with her boyfriend, 38-year-old New York artist Jason Bard Yarmosky, as the couple attended a party celebrating the 45th anniversary of Michael Kors.
Holmes arrived in a draped purple dress, adding a white clutch and red shoes with sturdy heels. Yarmosky kept his outfit considerably darker and simpler, wearing a fitted black long-sleeved top with classic trousers.
Their body language made their relationship particularly difficult to miss. Instead of keeping their distance when photographers appeared, Katie and Jason stood closely together and posed with their arms around each other.
Speculation surrounding the pair first emerged in mid-June after they were spotted at a private screening. Shortly before that, both had attended the Tribeca Festival, although they chose to appear separately on the red carpet.
Things became much less secretive a month ago when Holmes and Yarmosky attended a Ferragamo presentation together. That joint appearance effectively confirmed the romance that had already been generating attention.
Jason is almost a decade younger than Katie and has built a career far removed from Hollywood. A painter and graphic artist, he graduated from New York’s School of Visual Arts, and his work has been exhibited at major museums across the United States and Europe.
Holmes previously spent six years married to Tom Cruise. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2012, after which communication between the former spouses reportedly stopped completely. Their breakup was surrounded by speculation that disagreements involving Cruise’s Scientology beliefs played an important role.
At the time, reports claimed Katie was concerned about the future of their only daughter, Suri, and feared that she might eventually be sent to an isolated religious school. Suri is now 21 and this year officially stopped using her father’s surname.
More than a decade after that highly publicized chapter of her life ended, Katie appears comfortable letting the world see her latest relationship. This time, there was no separate posing and no attempt to disguise their closeness — she and Jason embraced openly in front of the cameras.
