Ben Affleck spent his 54th birthday far away from a lavish Hollywood celebration. The actor was spotted in Santa Monica enjoying a quiet outing with members of his family, including his former wife Jennifer Garner.
Affleck kept his appearance casual for the day. He wore a finely striped shirt with dark navy trousers, comfortable shoes and sunglasses as photographers caught him walking near a farmers market.
Two of his children were by his side. Ben was seen with 17-year-old Fin and 14-year-old Samuel, and the three appeared deeply engaged in conversation as they spent time together.
Jennifer Garner was also photographed nearby. The actress chose an equally relaxed outfit, stepping out in a sweatshirt and leggings. Affleck and Garner also share 20-year-old daughter Violet, although she was not seen with the family during her father’s birthday outing.
The low-key nature of the day came during an especially difficult period for Affleck. He decided against holding a birthday celebration following the death of his mother, Chris Anne, earlier this summer at the age of 83.
Chris Anne had been battling stomach cancer for a long time. In December 2025, doctors had told the family that she was expected to have no more than six months to live.
Affleck has also recently appeared on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The actor managed to win the show’s $1 million prize with the help of an expert, adding a very different recent moment to what has otherwise been an emotional period in his personal life.
