Brad Pitt is back on screen — but not everyone is applauding the transformation. The first trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth premiered during the Super Bowl, giving audiences a long-awaited look at the 62-year-old actor’s return to the character he first played in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. This time, however, it wasn’t just the storyline that grabbed attention. It was the hair. And the mustache.
Pitt appears in the film sporting a thick 1970s-style mustache paired with a shaggy blond wig that instantly divided viewers. The spin-off, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, revisits the world of the 2019 film that earned Pitt an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. His character, Cliff Booth, now steps into the spotlight as a so-called Hollywood studio fixer, set some time after the events of the original movie.

But online reactions came fast — and they weren’t gentle.
“We love when Brad Pitt looks sexy, not like this,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Hey Brad, your sex appeal is legendary. Too bad it didn’t make it into this movie.” Others questioned the decision outright: “He should never have worn that wig. How did this even happen?” One particularly sharp comment read, “Angelina Jolie must have burst out laughing.”

The trailer also features a playful moment in which Booth places an Oscar statue on a table — a nod to Pitt’s real-life Academy Award win for the original film. At the time, his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor but left the ceremony empty-handed.
Set in the 1970s, the new film centers on Booth’s evolution within the Hollywood system. It remains unclear whether Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Rick Dalton, will appear.
One thing is certain: before the movie even hits theaters, Pitt’s retro makeover has already sparked a heated debate.
