Fans have mocked Meghan Markle online after her brand, As Ever, shared a promotional video for her debut wine. The Duchess of Sussex launched her Napa Valley rosé on Tuesday, and the product sold out in under an hour.
As Ever offered the wine in sets of three, six, or twelve bottles, with each bottle priced at a minimum of $30. The wine was only available for purchase within the US, with a flat shipping fee of $20.
To celebrate the launch, As Ever posted a video featuring the wine being poured into a glass with a distinct sound. The caption read:
“It’s here! Raise a glass to the newest addition to the As Ever family. Our beautiful Napa Valley rosé is now available.”
However, the video was quickly ridiculed online. Fans criticized the pouring sound, claiming it didn’t sound realistic and compared it to someone pouring liquid into a toilet.
“I’ve poured a lot of glasses of wine in my life, and that’s not it. It sounds like someone is pouring beer into a toilet!” one user commented.
“Meghan Markle is the only person on earth who can’t even get the sound of pouring wine right,” another wrote.
“Oh my god. My misophonia is triggered. This is horrible,” said another, referring to the condition where certain sounds cause intense discomfort.
Despite the criticism, some people were excited to try the wine:
“My mom surprised me with three bottles! I can’t wait to taste it.”
“Yes, I managed to get three bottles! I wanted more, but I was so excited and nervous during checkout that I didn’t think about ordering six or more.”
“I got six! So excited!!”
Meghan’s pale pink rosé comes in a clear bottle with a white and gold label and has been described as “a delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruits, gentle minerality, and a long finish.”
