A woman named Larisa shared her very first furniture makeover. She took an old chair—one that had long been her cat’s favorite scratching spot—and gave it a fresh, elegant look. What was once a worn-out, tattered chair was transformed into a chic and modern piece with a beautifully tufted seat.

First, she measured and marked the plywood seat to create the tufted design.
The entire chair was sanded down to remove any old paint and rough patches. Once the dust was wiped away, a primer coat was applied. After it dried, she gently smoothed it out using fine-grit sandpaper for a flawless finish.
Once primed, the chair was spray-painted to achieve a sleek, even coating.
With the frame ready, it was time to work on the seat. Since the goal was to create a plush, tufted effect, she used a layer of foam and a special mesh to mark and cut spaces for the buttons.
The next step was securing the fabric and adding the buttons to achieve the classic tufted look. Decorative upholstery tacks were placed along the edges to enhance the overall design.
To complement the seat, the back of the chair was given an elegant decorative touch. She used baked polymer clay, shaped into intricate patterns with the help of molds. These decorative details were glued onto the frame with epoxy and finished off with acrylic paint.
And just like that, the chair was completely transformed! However, the first one to enjoy the newly revamped chair wasn’t Larisa—it was her cat! The feline was so taken with the new look and comfort that Larisa decided to let her keep it, promising to make another one for herself.
