Nothing keeps me home. My husband and I have long been in divorce and my children already have their own families. Whenever I am away, I leave the keys to my apartment with my daughter-in-law. Little did I know what she was doing while I wasn’t there! Once I discovered the truth, I had no words to express my astonishment!
Regardless of the fact that I’m 60, I still try to lead an active lifestyle – either I’ll go to a sanatorium to enjoy nature, or spend time with my old friends for a couple of days. Nothing keeps me at home.
My husband and I have long been in divorce and my children have already created their own families Both daughters left for their husbands on the other side of the country, and my son is nearby. I live in the apartment alone.
I even offered my son and daughter-in-law to live with me, but they refused to for some reason. It was too expensive for them to rent separate housing thus my son moved in with his mother-in-law.
I am often out of town, on vacation, or visiting friends. Whenever I am away, I give the keys to the apartment to my daughter-in-law so she waters the flowers, and makes sure no one breaks in.
It was convenient and I unconditionally trusted her. This continued until recently, at a festive table visiting my son, I noticed a salad bowl that looked exactly the same as mine.
I don’t know all the dishes well, but I remember this salad bowl; it was part of my daughter’s dowry, and after she left I kept it. Another time, I saw plates in the kitchen of my daughter-in-law, exactly like the ones that were on my wall.
Then I checked my own and realized that I was not mistaken and she actually took some of them. Though she strongly denies having stolen anything, I know the truth and am deeply upset. She could ask and take whatever she wanted. But she did the wrong thing. Now I leave the keys with my neighbor.
