Prince Harry has stepped out for his first major public engagement since returning to the United Kingdom with Meghan Markle and their children.
The 42-year-old Duke of Sussex attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner & Awards at the Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London. Harry is the founding patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, which organized the event to support wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans.
Meghan was not pictured alongside her husband at the gala. Harry dressed formally for the occasion in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie, adding his military medals to the look.
The Duke appeared relaxed throughout the evening, posing for photographs and joining guests for selfies. The gala ultimately raised £1,667,985 for the foundation’s year-round recovery programs.
Harry also addressed the audience, emphasizing that the Invictus movement is focused not simply on what its community members have endured, but on what they choose to do afterward and the support they receive along the way.
The evening recognized six award recipients from several countries, while James Corden hosted and performers including Jess Glynne, Sekou and Sydnie Christmas took the stage.
The appearance comes amid intense public attention surrounding Harry and Meghan’s life in Britain and their relationship with the wider royal family. Whatever happens next, Harry’s latest outing placed him back in a familiar role — representing the Invictus community he helped establish in 2014.
