Princess Eugenie Introduces Baby Adelaide and Reveals the Meaning Behind Her Name

Princess Eugenie has shared the first clear photos of her newborn daughter. The 36-year-old royal, who became a mother for the third time at the beginning of August, also revealed the full name she and husband Jack Brooksbank chose for their little girl.

The baby is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Eugenie explained that the three names honor people she and Jack love and admire, including Adelaide’s late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

One of the new family photos shows Adelaide alongside her older brothers, five-year-old August and three-year-old Ernest. Eugenie proudly revealed that “Augie and Ernie” have already become wonderful big brothers.

“We are delighted to introduce you to Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank,” the princess wrote. She added that the name remembers loved ones who are still with them as well as those they have lost. It also has connections to English and Portuguese history, representing the two countries the family loves and considers home.

Eugenie married businessman Jack Brooksbank in 2018. August was born three years later, followed by Ernest in May 2023. The family later moved from the United Kingdom to Portugal in search of greater privacy. Eugenie also has an older sister, Princess Beatrice.

The happy announcement comes during a difficult period for the York family. Eugenie and Beatrice have faced increased scrutiny because of the scandal surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III.

Andrew was detained in February 2026 amid an investigation into his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Although no official sanctions were imposed on his daughters, the sisters have reportedly been increasingly distanced from royal court life, with Prince William said to have advised relatives to keep them at arm’s length at least until the end of the year.
