Ansel Elgort just stepped into the biggest role of his life — and he didn’t announce it with headlines. He announced it with a lullaby.
The 31-year-old Divergent actor revealed that he has become a father, surprising fans with a tender video of himself singing while gently rocking a baby. The child’s face was kept out of frame, but the emotion was unmistakable. Alongside the clip, Elgort also shared a photo of himself holding the newborn.
In a heartfelt reflection, he opened up about how deeply fatherhood has changed him.
“Fatherhood is thrilling, it’s exhausting, it’s everything and more. The present feels more real, and the future feels brighter. He keeps us up all night, yet I’ve never felt stronger during the day. He moves from crying to laughing in an instant, expressing everything he feels. It frees me to do the same. I wanted to keep this private, just for us, but now I want to share it with you because it’s the brightest and happiest event of my life,” he wrote.
The actor, known for playing Caleb Prior — the brother of Beatrice, portrayed by Shailene Woodley — has largely kept his personal life out of the spotlight in recent years.

Soon after the announcement, paparazzi photographed Elgort in New York carrying his baby in a front carrier. The infant appeared to be fast asleep as the actor strolled through the city. Walking beside him was his partner, who remains out of the public eye.
The couple looked calm and content, enjoying an unhurried walk as a family of three. No red carpet. No stage lights. Just a new father, a sleeping baby, and a moment that clearly means more than any film role ever could.
